Observatory Privacy Policy

Observatory ("we", "us", or "the app") is a focus and productivity app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it clear and honest, which is the same principle the app itself is built on.

By using Observatory, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Who we are

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to make the app work and to provide your personal focus insights.

Account information. When you create an account or sign in, we collect:

Your email address
Your name (where provided by your sign-in method or entered by you)
An account identifier used to associate your data with your account

You can sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password. If you use Sign in with Apple with "Hide My Email," we receive Apple's private relay email address rather than your real email.

Focus and usage data. As you use the app, we collect data about your focus sessions and activity within the app, such as session length, time and day of sessions, task or project labels you create, and related activity. This is the data used to generate your personal insights, patterns, statistics, and companion features.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, purchases are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We receive information about your subscription status (for example, whether you have an active subscription), but we do not receive or store your payment card details.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or health data from your device.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

Provide and operate the app and your account
Generate your personal focus insights, patterns, trends, statistics, and companion features
Process and manage your subscription
Send you necessary account-related communications, such as password reset emails
Maintain the security and integrity of the app
Improve the app

We generate your insights from your own real focus data. We do not fabricate or guess data about you.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for advertising. We do not show third-party ads in the app.

We use a small number of trusted third-party service providers to operate the app, and your information may be processed by them only to provide these services:

Apple – Sign in with Apple, and processing of in-app purchases
Google – Google Sign-In (if you choose to sign in with Google)
RevenueCat – management of subscriptions and purchases
Railway – cloud hosting of our backend and database
Resend – sending transactional emails (such as password resets)

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices. We share only the information necessary for them to perform their function.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the app.

This website

This website uses cookieless, aggregate analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not identify you. Links to the App Store may carry a campaign tag so we can see which page a download came from; Apple reports that to us only in aggregate.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption of sensitive credentials and secure handling of authentication tokens. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain your account information and focus data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, or request deletion, we will delete your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain certain information by law.

Your rights and choices

You can:

Access the information associated with your account through the app
Request correction or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at observatoryapp2026@gmail.com
Stop using the app and request that your account and data be deleted

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We will honour valid requests to the extent required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

Observatory is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
